Narration Helps
If the idea of narration is new to you, I encourage you to check out the links below. They will give you even deeper insight than what I have provided in this series.

Living Books
I encourage you to choose the very best books for your children — books that draw you in, paint a vivid picture of the history, the story, and/or capture the author’s excitement for the topic he presents. In other words, I recommend choosing living books when possible. They are the 3rd essential tool (narration, notebooking, & living books) in our homeschooling tool belt.
These are some of my favorite places to find living book suggestions:
- Ambleside Online suggested books
- Beautiful Feet Books
- Charlotte Mason Plenary living books and resources list
- Classical Studies from Memoria Press
- CM Bookfinder by Simply Charlotte Mason (use tags/sort to narrow results to SCM recommendations)
- Heritage History hundreds of free story-based histories (read online or download)
- Literature picks from Memoria Press (the teacher guides can be helpful for discussion)
- Living Book Press
- Living Science Books list by Sabbath Mood Homeschool
- Living Science Books list by Simply Charlotte Mason
- Nothing New Press history of mankind and Western Civilization
- Read Aloud Revival by Sarah Mackenzie
- Subjects by Form by A Delectable Education (click the Episodes to find book recommendations)
- Yesterday’s Classics
Notebooking Videos
I was over the moon to find Shelley Sangrey’s “There’s No Place Like Home” YouTube channel. Shelley does an amazing job sharing her family’s experiences with notebooking and everything homeschooling.
