What Homeschool Moms Are Saying
Real homeschool moms share how notebooking changed their school days.
My husband and I decided to step back and evaluate the situation on what I could do to make it easier for me to teach a household of children…
I am a homeschool mother of seven children. One has officially graduated and is now married with two children. I still have six children at home age 12 and under. I used to use a curriculum course that was geared for particular grade when I had just three children in school. As another child got older and joined in the school work fun, it started not being so fun for me. I couldn’t juggle being a high school teacher along with a 2nd grade, 1st grade, and Kindergarten teacher with a different set of books for each child. My husband and I decided to step back and evaluate the situation on what I could do to make it easier for me to teach a household of children but yet still give the children what we wanted them to learn. We turned to Unit Studies and Notebooking. We incorporate lapbooking, unit studies, and notebooking together for history and science/nature study. We still have a separate math book for each child and now utilize workboxes to give them some extra things such as piano, Spanish, etc. to round out their day.
We are currently using pages from Notebooking Pages for our science/nature study and incorporating when and where we can with our Mystery of History study. I like the fact that the pages are ready to go in a variety of styles from some with a photo and many journaling lines to a place for the child to adhere a photo or draw a photo and then include information or facts on lines provided. These pages take the guesswork out of it and save me time from searching the web for images.
In the past, we have used pages from Notebooking Pages in a study on the United States that I taught to a co-op of my children and five children of friends. They each had their own notebook and I printed out pages for them to fill in facts about each state as well as gave them the state birds coloring pages. All of which I found right here at Notebooking Pages.
I am very pleased with the quality and availability of the notebook pages from NotebookingPages.com. I highly recommend them to others who are either wanting to start notebooking with their child(ren) or are looking for quality pages. There’s no scour the internet for other sites or try to make your own, when you have many available right here on NotebookingPages.com!
it has been so versatile with whatever we are covering from “required” subjects to ones of personal interest.
I have 4 kids ages 10, 7, 5, and 4. Two years ago we started lapbooking with most of our school subjects except math and phonics. We started lapbooking so that the kids could really make their own books with subjects that interested them. I knew though that as the kids got older that I wanted more than just cutting and pasting so we started adding more copywork to the lapbooks. It was a very natural transition to start notebooking. They now add their own artwork (one of the features I like with the notebooking pages is all the variety for clipart or blank spots for art work with lines for notebooking) Notebooking was a great way for us to journal and work through learning grammar skills in a practical way as well as practicing handwriting. Plus, this way the kids have personalized documentation of their work that we keep in a folder and they love to look over their work from each past year. I honestly wasn’t sure if notebooking would work for our family, but it has been so versatile with whatever we are covering from “required” subjects to ones of personal interest. The great thing is the little boys see the older two notebooking and they want to join in. My youngest just made his own journal book this morning to “write” in. Love it when stuff like that happens. Thanks, Debra for all your hard work and making it so accessible too.
Notebooking is great for him, they aid with recall, memory and he really enjoys them.
Thank you for the Lifetime Membership offer it is very affordable. Our son had a stroke, causing long and short term memory. Notebooking is great for him, they aid with recall, memory and he really enjoys them. They are easy to adapt to his level yet are still challenging enough for him. Education has not been easy but with the help of your site he is interested, and it frees up a lot of my time. Again Thank you and God bless
Busywork was destroying our homeschool.
Notebooking has been a true Godsend for our family. Busywork was destroying our homeschool. My daughter is so excited. She woke up and did all her chores and completed her notebooking all by herself. She was hovering around the family table as we were preparing the notebooks asking,”When do we get to start this?” She could hardly wait. They have eleven notebooks a piece so far. They are all nearly crammed full. Listen to this please, when we went to Wal-Mart last for supplies, she got herself a new notebook and things to go in it and came right home and made herself a new notebook, not candy, not Barbie, but a beautiful notebook that she designed on her own. Thank you, thank you, thank you…
The notebooking journey has awakened something fresh and exciting in our school time.
The notebooking journey has awakened something fresh and exciting in our school time. I was struggling to ‘organize’ what the kids were learning in history and science and truthfully, just wanted to inject some FUN into those two subjects with minimal prep time.
I have found the templates from the membership collection to be outstanding help for each my 7 students–from my really creative children to my reluctant writers–and well worth the money we invested in it.
My children are pleased to see their history and science notebooks taking shape. With notebooking pages by their sides, they have created something to be really proud of!
They are so proud of what they’ve produced and take pride in their work.
We first began using these materials last year, as we notebooked our way through the Old Testament. My children absolutely LOVE their notebooks. They are so proud of what they’ve produced and take pride in their work. I have 6 kids and we are homeschooling all of them. Many curriculum’s have add-on worksheet sets to purchase – but none are as high quality as those on your site. For a lifetime membership I will have materials ready to go FOR.THE.REST.OF.OUR.HOMESCHOOLING.YEARS!!!! X 6 KIDS!!!!
I love the materials. I love that we will have lasting evidence of what they’ve learned. I already love the idea that someday I will be able to show my GRANDCHILDREN what their parents accomplished in school.
…they can’t wait until the end of the day to share with daddy what they have been learning!
I initially signed up for the freebies to “test the waters” of notebooking. Wow! It has transformed our days!! My kiddos are excited to write (what?!) and seem to really be retaining what they are learning. They are so enthusiastic about their work and to top it off they can’t wait until the end of the day to share with daddy what they have been learning! I’m sold! We are now Lifetime Members! Thank You Debra!!
These pages make our school day fun exciting and different every day!!!
I am a new homeschooling mom and I wanted to make our homeschool different than anything my kids had ever seen. In school they had busy work and nonsense questions that didn’t challenge them at all. Now, after a year of creating wonderful, engaging notebooks on many subjects, they now create their own pages and ask me to notebook everything from a recent family vacation (complete with pictures and drawings) to a great recipe we created (they are writing their own cookbook). These pages make our school day fun exciting and different every day!!! Thank you Debra!!!
“Mom, are we going back to notebooking?! …great because I remember so much more when we do that”
We have used notebooking in our homeschool for years but this past year my husband took a new job requiring us to move out of state. Moving can require a lot of a mom of five. I decided to trim down our workload and go as simple as possible. One of the things to go was notebooking. Now several months later we are moved in and trying to get back on track. My oldest daughter in her teens saw me looking at my account. She asked “Mom, are we going back to notebooking?!” I said I am planning to. She replied “great because I remember so much more when we do that” She proceeded to tell me about previous studies we had done and how fresh they still are in her mind because we used notebooking. I hope this is an encouragement to moms out there that are either considering notebooking or need to return it to their routine.
Notebooking has become an integral part of our schooling this year… wonderful pages… wonderful peace of mind!
Notebooking has become an integral part of our schooling this year; we use them with our Sonlight history (to capture narration and related artwork), for our copywork/handwriting, and for science. The kids are always excited to see what page is coming next, and we look forward to binding the pages at the end of the year into books! My kids have normally been rather averse to having to WRITE, much preferring the oral narration, but the wonderful pages, and the knowledge they are creating a book, make it more fun for them. And I feel more confident in my homeschooling than ever, because I have wonderful records of all we have accomplished- wonderful peace of mind! I have never been to any other notebooking-pages site, because I have always found everything and exactly what I needed HERE! Thanks for such a fabulous resource!
What a blessing it is to have all of these resources at my fingertips…
I have loved having access to all of your notebooking pages as a Lifetime Member. Paying for access to that was really a no-brainer for me. What a blessing it is to have all of these resources at my fingertips to print whenever I need….versus spending hours attempting to either create what I need or search for it on the internet. Your hard work has paid off to serve at least one family (although I know there are many more than just us!). THANK YOU doesn’t seem like an adequate way to express our gratitude!
…we started using Mystery of History and Apologia Science and found that notebooking worked great with both of them.
We started out with just doing notebooking for small projects and for the occasional handwriting exercise. I used to think it was one of those areas that our family didn’t have time for or could afford. Then we started using Mystery of History and Apologia Science and found that notebooking worked great with both of them. I truly believe that my children have enjoyed both of those subjects more and have learned more than they ever would have if we had only followed the “traditional” textbook approach. Thank you for making the learning experience fun!
