Lightbulb Notebooking Publisher and Mac/ Apple Users (computer and iPad)

Greetings all you Apple users, and a huge thank you to Debra for all you've done to get this app out (and to your developers)!

I use a MacBook computer and an iPad. And YES Notebooking Publisher works great on a Mac. But things are a bit different for us, and I wanted to share some tips with you.

First, everything will work just great if you use Firefox as your browser whenever you use Notebooking Publisher.

Next, on a Mac our "Notepad" is the app called TextEdit. Use it to write your narrations and other text in to copy and paste into Notebooking Publisher.

    Using Notebooking Publisher with Safari
Yes you can do it - but ...
The add image feature of NP only works on Firefox, NOT with Safari. So if you don't have Firefox on your Mac, you will want to download it and use it for uploading and using your own images. (I have no idea if Debra's team can do anything to make images show up and work on Macs, or how much would be involved to do that if it is possible.) But she tells us up front this works best with Firefox.

I've been experimenting with a couple of different things though. I wondered if I uploaded images through Firefox if they would be in my Image Library and usable in Safari, or on my iPad. No. They don't show up at all. So again adding your own images ONLY works with Firefox.

However, if you want to use Templates that already have images added - such a the American Revolution set - those can be used in Safari. With Safari you can add the other design elements also. And of course, add your text and save etc.

The other thing I wondered was if Notebooking Publisher would work on my iPad. Can we use Notebooking Publisher on the go? Because iPad also uses Safari, you can not use your own images. Also you can not use the design elements, they won't drag and drop nor copy and paste. But again, if you use a Template that already has the image you want, and you don't want to add any other design elements, you can use your iPad to use Notebooking Publisher to add text to Templates, save and print them.

To use Notebooking Publisher on your iPad, choose a Template that already has an image (or of course you could always paste it in after printing). Use your Notes app to type in your text, then copy it and paste it into your Template. Add your other text - Title, etc. When you save as a pdf, touch "Open in iBooks". When you go to your iBooks app your Notebooking Page will be right there. You can print it (if you have a wireless printer) or email it to a computer you can print from. If you want to "Save to jpg", touch that option, then touch the image when it opens up in Safari on iPad, and choose Save Image. That will add it to your Camera Roll in your Photos app. From there you can email, print--or even Tweet it.

Hope these tips are helpful to those using Apple products. Have fun using Notebooking Publisher!

This is SO helpful, thank you for posting it!

I wanted to add something that I figured out for Mac. I am using Safari right now because I haven't had a need to upload/etc. yet. I was unable to print from Adobe Reader once I saved my page - the error was "Unable to print, no page selected." I was able to bypass this error and print by going into my Advanced print settings and checking the box "print as image." Hope this helps anyone else having the problem.

Wow, thanks! We were having trouble with adding/uploading images, so your post is very useful. As a short term fix, I was just having my kids print out the images separately and then cut and paste them onto the page physically after they printed out their NP page.
