How much time do you spend?

How much time to you spend on a notebook page per subject? I find that we take so long on our pages in one subject that we don't get to the other planned lessons. Or do you roll it over to the next day when your time limit is finished? This seems to be one of our biggest obstacles to notebooking.

Some of our pages we deliberately do over a couple of days - for example, for the French history book that we use, each topic has 3 sections, which I read over 3 days. And after each reading, the babes fill in the written and picture bit on the page designed for that topic. I guess each third of a page takes 15-30 minutes. And sometimes I'm the scribe for our pages, so that speeds things up too!
For other pages, if they are engrossed with the work and it is actually productive, I let them keep going. But that is admittedly rare. They are more often happy to throw something down on the paper and move on. Narrating orally is still their preferred way of doing things.
